Abstract:   (574 Views)
Simultaneously with the beginning of the 10th century of Hijri, European powers, including the Portuguese, appeared on the southern shores of the Persian Gulf. With the aim of benefiting from economic capacities, they gradually expanded their influence over this region. Their presence highlighted the role of some social groups such as Shiites in the political developments of these areas. So that extensive anti-colonial campaigns were carried out by the Shiites with the aim of reviving their social and economic life and getting rid of the increasing domination of the Portuguese.
This research seeks to investigate the formation of anti-colonial struggles of the Shiites of the southern coasts of the Persian Gulf from the perspective of the comparative deprivation theory, while using library resources and with a descriptive-analytical approach. The findings of the research show that factors such as the weakening of the economic life of the Shiites, the oppression and violent behavior of the colonialists, the chaos and lack of social security, and finally the weakening of religious values played a major role in the anti-colonial struggles of the Shiites.
