Abstract:   (611 Views)
The Hojjatieh Society (Anjoman-e-Hojjatieh), a traditionalist Iranian Shiite organization, advocates for passive awaiting during the period of occultation. This ideology contrasts with the cultural movement of the Islamic Revolution and its subsequent system, potentially causing negative consequences for the Islamic community. This study aims to identify key components of this ideology and to examine its influence on young people in Tehran. Historical data was collected through documentary and desk study methods, while a survey and a questionnaire were employed for field research. Qualitative content analysis was used for the historical part, and statistical methods were applied to the field data. The study's findings reveal that the Hojjatieh Society's key ideological tenets include opposing the establishment of an Islamic government during occultation, advocating for the separation of religion and politics, and discouraging active resistance against oppressors and corruption during this period. Additionally, the society dismisses philosophy and mysticism as illegitimate innovations and opposes unity with Sunni Muslims, highlighting the distinct beliefs and practices that define this traditionalist Shiite organization. The results suggest varying degrees of inclination towards the Hojjatieh Society's key tenets among the surveyed population of young individuals in Tehran; 21.6% of respondents demonstrated a very low inclination, 30.5% exhibited a low inclination, 37% showed a medium inclination, 9.1% displayed a high inclination, and 1.8% reported a very high inclination. Collectively, these findings point to an overall low level of inclination towards these ideological components among Tehran's youth.
