Abstract:   (463 Views)
Qasr-e Shirin was formed in the late Sassanid period with an important collection of royal, religious, public benefit and defense-military buildings. In addition to the communication and commercial functions of Qasr-e Shirin, it is important to recognize the factors that shaped the city and examine their characteristics in the Sassanid and Islamic periods. Therefore, the main research issue ahead is to study the spatial structure of the city of Qasr-e Shirin during the Sassanid period, its continued existence during the Islamic period, and to examine the factors affecting the city's dynamics from the late Sassanid period to the Qajar period. The results of the research show that with Khosrow Parviz's attention to the city of Qasr-e-Shirin, its prosperity began; this dynamic coincided with the growth of cities located on the route of Ctesiphon to the interior of Iran, including Khanaqin and Hawesh-Kuri. Based on historical and archaeological evidence, the city's prosperity did not stop with the arrival of Islam and continued to exist due to its important communication and commercial role. In addition, the physical structure of the city during the Sassanid period followed the organized pattern of Sassanid cities.
