Sukayna bint al-Ḥusayn (peace be upon him) was among the renowned women in Islamic history, who was referred to as the “ʿAqīlah of Quraysh.” She is one of the few women whose intellectual and cultural personality has been highlighted in numerous literary and historical works. One of the significant aspects of Sukayna’s cultural identity was her status in Arabic poetry and literature, which granted her a distinguished position, to the extent that she would critique the works of prominent poets of her time. In this study, using a descriptive-analytical approach, the literary and artistic activities of Sukayna bint al-Ḥusayn are examined. The findings indicate that, by understanding the political and social circumstances of her era, she actively engaged in cultural endeavors—among the most important of which were poetry and music—through which she contributed to the growth and advancement of both disciplines.
