Adolescence and youth represent critical stages of personality formation in which modeling and observational learning play a foundational role. Bandura's Social Learning Theory—centered on attention, retention, behavioral reproduction, and motivation—offers a productive framework for analyzing the Prophet Muhammad's(PBUH) educational conduct toward adolescents and youth in early Islamic society. Using a descriptive-analytical method grounded in authoritative Sunni hadith and Sīrah sources, this study reinterprets six documented practices of the Prophet through Bandura's components. Public praise of young companions' scholarly standing(e.g., 'Abd Allāh ibn Mas'ūd, Mu'ādh ibn Jabal) functioned to capture attention; entrusting youth with significant responsibilities—such as appointing Usāma ibn Zayd as army commander or Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr as an emissary to Yathrib—enabled behavioral reproduction and built self-efficacy; repeated moral counsel to Mu'ādh ibn Jabal supported retention; and consistent emotional attentiveness, respect for youths' opinions, and preference for rational dialogue over reproach served as mechanisms of positive reinforcement. The findings indicate that the Prophet(PBUH) systematically combined direct modeling with graduated responsibility and reinforcement, fostering self-efficacy and internalized moral behavior among young companions. This historically grounded convergence with Bandura's theory suggests that his approach can inform contemporary educational strategies for adolescent and youth development.
